Tá mé bliain is fiche d'aois, is Breatnach mé, agus tá mé ag déanamh céim bhaitsiléara sa Léann Ceilteach san ollscoil. Tá mé ag déanamh Breatnaise ó bhí mé trí bliana d'aois, ach chuaigh mé go dtí scoileanna Béarla. Is Albanach í mo mháthair, is Éireannach í mo sheanmháthair, agus is Cornach é m'athair, mar sin tá beagán Coirnise, Gaeilge, agus Albainise agam. De shíolrach Albanaigh Uladh agus Sasanaigh mé chomh maith, agus tá spéis i ndiaspóra na dtíortha Ceilteacha, diaspóra Albanacha na nÍsealchríoch/Uladh, agus stair mo theaghlaigh.

San ollscoill, bím ag staidéar Breatnaise agus Gaeilge den chuid is mó, agus freisin rinne mé bliain Briotáinise, agus rinne mé bliain Iodáilis mar is maith liom ceoldráma. Tosóidh mé foghlaim Sean-Ghaeilge agus Sínis an bhliain seo chugainn. Tá súil agam go ndéanfaidh mé máistreacht sa Léann Lochlannach agus Ceilteach tar éis mo chéim bhatsiléara. Freisin tá spéis agam i nGaeilge na hAlban, Gaeilge Mhanann, Nua-Ghaeilge Mhoch, Meán-Bhreatnais, Sualainnis, Íoslainnis, Sean-Lochlainnis, Teanga Chomharthaíochta na Breataine, Freaslainnis, Slóvaicis, agus Fionlainnis.

Freisin is maith liom a bheith ag seinm ceoil - faoi láthair, seinnim an basún agus an t-óbó le cheolfhoireann agus dhá bhanna gaothuirlisí, agus sheinn mé an fheadóg mhór, an fhliúiteog, agus an vióla le grúpaí eile.

English

My languages: English (C2), Welsh (B2/C1), Irish (A2), Cornish (A1), Breton (A1), Esperanto (A1), Italian (A1), Scots (??)

I'm a 21-year-old from Wales, currently doing a bachelor's degree in Celtic Studies. English is my first language and I've been learning Welsh since I was three. Although I went to English-medium schools, so I didn't learn lots of Welsh and I didn't have a passion for it until I started studying it on my own outside of school hours. I have a Scottish mother, an Irish grandmother, and a Cornish father, so I grew up with bits of Lowland Scots, Irish, and Cornish too. I also have more distant Ulster Scots and English heritage, and I'm very interested in Celtic diasporas, Lowland/Ulster Scots diasporas, and in my family history.

At university, I mainly study Welsh and Irish, and I've also done a year of Breton, and a year of Italian because I really like opera. Next year I'm going to start studying Old Irish and Chinese. I'm hoping to do a Celtic and Scandinavian Studies masters degree after my undergraduate. I'm also interested in Scottish Gaelic, Manx, Early Modern Irish, Middle Welsh, Swedish, Icelandic, Old Norse, British Sign Language, Frisian, Slovak, and Finnish.

Outside of languages, I also like playing music - I currently play the bassoon and the oboe with an orchestra and two wind bands, and I've also played the flute, piccolo, and viola with various groups.
